Nest launches Hello doorbell, smart lock, and temperature sensor

Above Nest Temperature Sensor

But perhaps most compelling is that all of Nest's products are now closely integrated into Google Assistant. It also has a speaker that is "loud and clear", and can be heard over street noises and echoes, according to Google. If you have a multimeter and know how to use it, you can check your doorbell's wire voltage or have a Nest Pro do it for you.

Falling in step with the growing market for smart home appliances, Nest has launched a new video doorbell, smart lock, and temperature sensor.

The Nest Hello is similar to Ring in that it allows you to see who is at the door by peeking on your mobile device.

Mattis just made a surprise visit to Kabul
Mattis said the goal was to convince the Taliban that they could not win, which would hopefully push them towards reconciliation. He also says Pakistan is changing its behavior after President Trump blasted the country for harboring terrorists a year ago .

Nest Hello will work in most homes that already have a wired doorbell. "When you unlock your door with the Nest x Yale Lock, the Nest Secure alarm system disarms automatically, without you having to tap your key fob or use the Nest app", said a Nest representative. You can create passcodes and unlock the door remotely. Instead, you enter a code to unlock the door and homeowners can control who has access from an app on their phone. There is no keyhole in the Nest X Yale lock, but it would send notifications when the batteries are running low, notes CNET.

The door is smart so it can tell you if another person locks or unlocks the door or forgets a passcode. The Nest x Yale lock can be had today at Nest's site for $249 and comes in three finishes: Nickel, Bronze, and Brass. Your indoor cameras turn off to protect your privacy, and your thermostat turns up to make you cozy.

You can finally ask Google Home to arm your Nest Secure, which was one of our gripes when we reviewed it. Prior to that, Amazon also purchased Blink, a smart camera and video doorbell company. Or have Google announce "Someone's at your door" when your Nest Hello rings.

Melrose Raises Offer for GKN to $11.2 Billion to Sway Investors
In a letter to GKN shareholders, Christopher Miller, chairman of Melrose, told shareholders "it is now time for you to decide". GKN shareholders will need to approve the merger, which means they will have to weigh its merits against a Melrose deal.

The Nest Temperature Sensor works with Nest thermostat to allow users to set the temperature and detect when the temperature gets to the temperature they've set.

Meanwhile Nest, even with the new sensors, can at best make sure it gets the heating right in a single location at a time. Nest Temperature Sensor will be available for pre-order soon. Deals start at $217 for a 3rd generation Nest.
