Samsung unveils 2018 lineup of QLED 4K TVs

Samsung's 2018 QLED TV lineup will include Bixby to be smarter than ever before

One of which is "Ambient Mode".

One of the key features in the new QLED TV is an "Ambient Mode" that mimics the pattern on the wall behind the TV to create a visual effect to make the TV blend into the surroundings - making it nearly invisible. The new feature was shown off at CES 2018 and it looks set to be incredibly useful, making TV setup a cinch. You can pick between photos, patterns, and colours, or even match your wallpaper with a smartphone app.

Once the Ambient Mode is enabled, the television looks like the wall behind it, with minimal differences. Nevertheless, it still is a cool concept to make the TV nearly invisible. One, against a fake brick wall, was indistinguishable from what was behind it until you really got close up to the screen.

“With our 2018 TV lineup, we are changing the definition of visual display to Intelligent Displays, ” said President Jonghee Han. The new QLEDs also have the provision of voice assistant capabilities.

Alexa has started randomly laughing and it's freaking people out
In the meantime, users continue to swap laughing Alexa stories as though telling ghost stories at a campfire. It's not the first creepy encounter users have had with Alexa .

One cable - up to 15 meters (49 feet) long - is all it takes to link the TV and AV data, and is also a help to breaking the cord clutter that every home suffers from today. But, that's a big segment for the company and including a gateway to its smart home platform with each television is a nice way to integrate users into SmartThings with little to no friction at all.

The QLED series includes the Q9, Q8, Q7, and Q6 - differentiated on the basis of price and image quality.

Another new addition for 2018 is Bixby, Samsung's very own voice assistant that was introduced previous year with the Galaxy S8 duo. The high-end Q9F line includes 65-, 75-, and 88-inch models.

The 65-inch Q6F model will run you $2,200, while you'll have to shell out $3,800 for the comparable Q9F. The screens also have backlighting control that Samsung says delivers more accurate colors that don't react to ambient light, with also sharper blacks and whites. That'll let the TVs handle contrast and black levels better than the company's edge-lit displays. Samsung has integrated a new Q Engine on the QLED TV, which claims to improve the viewing experience of the users' way more immersive than ever. A similar effect was also experienced on the company's Frame TVs. Amazon introduced its Echo Show, which gave Alexa a box with a touchscreen on which it could display things like news, weather, and even some content.

Android P Developer Preview released by Google with notch support, notification improvements
Carriers can report networks as being congested or unmetered and JobScheduler then manages work according to the network status. Of course, the final Android P release coming in Q3 2018 doesn't mean that that'll be when everyone gets the update.

Another feature that Samsung calls "One Invisible Connection" provides users with one slim cable that combines power and audio-visual data to the TV.

Additionally, Samsung said its massive "The Wall" TV will become available in August.

The QLED lineup of the year 2018 consists of the Q6, Q7, Q8, and Q9. Pricing has not yet been announced for the suite, but with the products available this month, we're sure quite a few designers will be speccing these in future projects.
