White House Rebuffs Reports, Says McMaster 'Isn't Going Anywhere'

H.R. Mc Master reportedly next to leave White House

For months, reports have grown of National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster having fallen out of favor, with the administration looking to shuffle him elsewhere, potentially to Afghanistan, and reports this week suggesting such a move could come very soon.

A National Security council spokesman dismissed reports of mcmaster's departure and the president referred to an NBC story on it as "fake news".

Venezuela delays presidential election
Now, several United States agencies are reviewing the possibility of implementing these sanctions to remove Maduro from office. Such an election would contradict the country's constitution, it said.

But McMaster, an Army lieutenant general, has often found himself at odds with Trump, and media reports have indicated clashes between the men.

Compounding the report, CNN's Jim Sciutto said that McMaster has been discussing a potential position with the Stanford Hoover Institution. It said the replacement plan was drawn up by Defense Secretary James Mattis and chief of staff John Kelly.

At least one senior military officer has been informally approached about whether he would be interested in the national security adviser job and has said no because of the officer's belief that he could not fill what's essentially a political job while serving in uniform, according to an official familiar with the situation. The president has also begun considering candidates to succeed McMaster as national security adviser, a post which does not require Senate confirmation, the sources told ABC News.

While Lt. Gen. McMaster's departure does not appear imminent, it has been contemplated for several weeks - a transition expected possibly as soon as this spring, the sources said. Now Donald Trump is facing a shrinking circle of trusted advisers and a staff that's grim about any prospect of a reset.

"General McMaster forgot to say that the results of the 2016 election were not impacted or changed by the Russians and that the only Collusion was between Russia and Crooked H, the DNC and the Dems", Trump tweeted.

McMaster also kept his job at the time because of the White House's challenge attracting top talent for positions in the administration, due to Trump's "blacklist" of individuals who have criticized him, his personality and the Russian Federation investigation, according to a senior Republican source.
