US, allies join hands to slam Iran role in Yemen

Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya

Britain, France, Germany and the United States urged Iran to "immediately cease all activities that are inconsistent or would violate" the UN resolution that established the arms embargo in 2015.

Meanwhile, fierce fighting continued between the Iranian-backed Houthis and the forces allied with the internationally-backed government in various areas of Yemen.

On Monday, Russia vetoed a UK-drafted resolution that would have pressured Iran over allegations of violating an arms embargo on Yemen.

The UN experts, however, said they were unable to identify the supplier.

Egyptian mediators in Gaza press Palestinians to reconcile
The IDF said that the troops "followed standard procedure and sent a search dog to locate people inside the establishment". The blockade specifically prohibits Palestinians from fishing beyond six nautical miles (11 kilometers) off the coastline.

"In spite of a mountain of credible, independent evidence showing Iran violated the Yemen arms embargo, resulting in a series of attacks on civilian targets, Russian Federation prevented accountability and endangered the entire region", U.S. Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said, vowing to take action outside the UN against Iran.

Saudi Arabia and its Sunni Muslim allies - including the United Arab Emirates - say the Houthis are aligned with Shia Iran and pose a threat to the region.

They particularly noted the United Nations finding that the Houthis' ballistic missile attacks on Saudi Arabia "has the potential to turn a local conflict into a broader regional one".

The war has killed more than 10,000 people, displaced more than 2 million and driven the country - already the poorest on the Arabian Peninsula - to the verge of widespread starvation.

It said that there were injury marks in the chest and that ribs had been broken, obviously due to the torture Madhu had undergone. Madhu, 27, died in a police vehicle after being violently attacked by a mob that accused him of being involved in a minor theft.

The Saudi-led coalition since previous year has been blockading Yemeni ports in an effort to defeat the Huthis, in a move the United Nations says has exacerabated the near-famine conditions in the country.

On the humanitarian level, Maliki said that there were 22 ports now operating at their full capacity for the entry of humanitarian aid and relief to Yemen.

The public condemnation by the Western powers comes just after intelligence sources confirmed that Iran has built what seems to be another permanent military base outside of Syria's capital city, despite the U.S.' calls for Iran to cut off its support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

In January, Donald Trump vowed to re-impose US sanctions on Iran unless the deal was amended to fix its major flaws.
