NASA captured the most distant photograph from the Earth

This December 2017 false-color image made available by NASA in February 2018 shows KBO 2012 HZ84. This image is for now one of the farthest

Two hours later, it broke the record again with two images of KBOs that are also the closest-up image ever taken of any such object.

According to a statement by NASA, the probe snapped a false-color image of a group of stars known as "Wishing Well" on December 5, 2017 while it was 6.12 billion km away from Earth and en route to the Kuiper Belt, a circumstellar disk surrounding the solar system.

The Nasa spacecraft that made close-ups of Pluto has set a record for the farthest photos ever taken. At a distance of 3.79 billion miles, or 40.9 astronomical units from our cosmic home, the image took the crown from Voyager 1's "Pale Blue Dot" as the image taken farthest from Earth.

New Horizons has observed several objects in the Kuiper Belt, a distant region of icy debris that extends far beyond the orbit of Neptune.

Canada-Philippines helicopter deal sparks human rights concerns
At one point during the briefing, Duterte asks someone in audience how many helicopters his country is buying from Canada. The helicopters are being procured for the Philippines Armed Forces in support of internal security operations.

The picture shown above, a false-colour image of a Kuiper Belt object with the designation 2012 HZ84, is the most distant photo from Earth ever taken by a spacecraft. That shot - which was, in fact, part of a composite of 60 images - came to be known as the "Pale Blue Dot", famously for depicting Earth as "a mote of dust suspended on a sunbeam". The spacecraft travels more than 700,000 miles of space every day.

The mission also broke a record that has been stagnant since 1990, when the Voyager 1 spacecraft sent back a final capture of Earth before the cameras on the craft were lost.

Anyone who's passionate about astronomy and outer space knows that few things can compare to the grandeur and beauty of deep space photography, and on that front, NASA's New Horizons spacecraft is doing great work.

"Those are the farthest out images ever taken", says Dr. Andy Cheng, with the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel.

Family feud: Rob Porter's domestic scandal riles White House
The revelations have rocked the White House, forcing questions about whether chief of staff John Kelly knew about the allegations. At the court-martial, Kelly praised the colonel as a " superb Marine officer ", as The New York Times reported Thursday .

New Horizons is now "hibernating" to save power in between actions on its journey.

"The Voyagers and Pioneers flew through the Kuiper Belt at a time when we didn't know this region existed", says Jim Green, director of NASA's Planetary Science Division, in another press release.

Were you impressed by New Horizons' achievement? NASA said the spacecraft is expected to observe at least two-dozen other KBOs, dwarf planets and "Centaurs", former KBOs in unstable orbits that cross the orbits of the giant planets.

"New Horizons has always been a mission of firsts - first to explore Pluto, first to explore the Kuiper Belt, fastest spacecraft ever launched", Alan Stern, New Horizons Principal Investigator from the Southwest Research Institute in Boulder, Colorado, said in a statement.
