Google Wants To Bring Smart Replies To More Chat Apps

A Google R&D team wants to bring Smart Reply to all your chat apps

So far Smart Reply, a feature that first appeared in Inbox by Gmail, has only been introduced to other Google apps, such as Allo and the Gmail mobile app.

Reply will work with Hangouts, Allo, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Android Messages, Skype, Twitter DMs, and Slack.

That means when you're driving, Reply can silence your phone and tell people who message you that you can't chat right now. For example, if someone asks how long it will take for you to get home, the feature can give an estimate based on how long it would take for you to drive there in current conditions. This is a nifty feature that uses AI to scan the contents of your email, and based on that it will provide users with a bunch of different reply options that are appropriate to the email.

Canada-Philippines helicopter deal sparks human rights concerns
At one point during the briefing, Duterte asks someone in audience how many helicopters his country is buying from Canada. The helicopters are being procured for the Philippines Armed Forces in support of internal security operations.

The said project is going to be called "Reply" and will be available to Android users initially, as per the project's sign-up form. It was programmed to automatically guide instant replies to the emails on the basis of message context received by the particular user.

Android Messages has already rolled out limited - but official - support for Smart Replies, we should note.

Reply is created to work with a number of popular messaging services, including Google Hangouts and Allo, Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger, Android Messages, Skype, Twitter direct messages and Slack.

Canada 3-1 in Olympic mixed doubles
Morris and Lawes downed Switzerland's Jenny Perrett and Martin Rios 7-2 in six ends on Saturday for their fourth straight win. Canada had no problem getting past Switzerland in a matchup between two teams that entered Friday with identical 3-1 records.

Some of Google's apps like Hangouts let you quickly send a response right from its notification.

The feature could launch in a variety of chat apps, including business favorite Slack. Google is developing an app that will give you a selection of preformatted responses allowing you to reply with just one click of a button.

Area120, an experimental programme within Google that helps teams build new products, sent out invites to some users to test the feature.

Israel strikes 12 Iranian targets in Syria over downed fighter jet
The United Nations called Tuesday for a monthlong humanitarian ceasefire throughout Syria as fighting escalates in certain areas. In a briefing at noon on Saturday, IDF Spokesman Jonathan Conricus warned that the Syrians and Iranians are "playing with fire".

Other features of the Reply function include a Do Not Disturb mode. There is also the question of whether or not other developers want to integrate Google's features into their apps or if it would be better to develop their own, but what do you guys think?
