Tv stations to remain off air as Govt conducts probe

The U.S. Department of State in a statement said it was gravely concerned by Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga's self-"inauguration" on Tuesday as Kenya's "People's President".

Omtata argues that the state switched off free to air transmission on the three channels without warning and without giving any reasons.

US State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert said the US was "deeply concerned by the government's action to shut down, intimidate, and restrict the media".
