Wrong button: Hawaii sends false missile alert, island panics for 40 minutes

Ballistic Missile warning

In Huntsville, Priscilla Oaks had no clue what was going on until her daughter called her. Oaks said she felt helpless knowing that her daughter Angelina, her grandchild and son-in-law were in Oahu, and there was nothing she could do. "When suddenly I hear, 'ballistic missile inbound for Hawaii, take shelter immediately, this is not a drill, ' in the headphones". POTUS is an abbreviation for President of the United States, emphasizing the plea from Gooch to US President Donald Trump amid tense US-North Korean relations.

Questioned repeatedly by reporters about how such a mistake could happen, the governor said his administration is doing everything possible to make sure it does not happen again. "This was purely a state exercise", they said.

The alert caused a panic when it went to people's cellphones Saturday morning but, shortly after, authorities said it was a mistake.

Ajit Pai, chairman of the US Federal Communications Commission, announced the investigation on Twitter.

It was corrected by email 18 minutes later but there was no follow-up mobile text for 38 minutes, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports. Hawaii has been facing a nuclear threat from North Korea, which claims its missiles can hit the archipelago and other parts of the US.

Google Maps Pauline Johnson Junior Public School, where an 11-year-old girl was headed Friday when she was allegedly attacked. The girl was reportedly on her way to school when the man came up to her and used scissors to cut off her hijab .

"He wasn't too concerned and said, 'I hope if this happens, I just vaporize.' And it was one of those things where you laugh, but it's also terrifying" she explained.

A southern IL native found himself caught in chaos on Saturday morning, after a missile alert, which turned out to be false, was sent out across Hawaii.

Hawaii U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz tweeted the false alarm was "totally inexcusable".

Hawaii House Speaker Scott Saiki said the system Hawaii residents have been told to rely on failed miserably.

"Everyone was freaking out, running through the streets", he said.

Trump's FISA Tweet Shows Why the 25th Amendment Is Unnecessary
Last year, Trump accused the Obama administration of wiretapping Trump Tower during the 2016 presidential campaign. The president, she said, has been following the topic and "wanted to put something out".

Officials in the country quickly ruled out hacking and have said that human error was to blame during a routine test of its systems during a shift change.

Hawaii Emergency Management Agency spokesman Richard Rapoza says it's not clear what caused the alert to go out. "This will not happen again", he added.

She said that for Hawaiians, Saturday's episode was "a true realization that they've got 15 minutes to find some form of shelter" in the event of a missile attack, "or they're going to be dead".

"There needs to be tough and quick accountability and a fixed process", he tweeted.
