Trump directs NASA to send astronauts back to moon and Mars

Trump It's Time to Send Americans to the Moon Again

The better known Buzz Aldrin, the second man on the Moon after Armstrong and a fervent advocate of future space missions, was also present at the ceremony but not mentioned by Trump during his speech.

Trump's plans, which are a part of the Space Policy Directive 1, intend to prioritise the exploration of space, something he has been stressing on for a while now.

The directive says that "the moon is of interest to worldwide partners and is within reach of America's private space industry".

As he signed a policy directive Monday meant to "refocus the space program on human exploration and discovery", President Donald Trump instructed NASA to return American astronauts to the moon, alluded to an "eventual mission to Mars" and promised to "restore American leadership in space".

"[The move] marks an important step in returning American astronauts to the Moon for the first time since 1972 for long-time exploration", he said.

Two Palestinians killed in Israeli attack in Gaza - local residents
Four other Gazans, including two Hamas militants, have died since the announcement last Wednesday. Israel considers responsible for the "hostile act" committed from the territory of the Gaza Strip.

"We will establish a foundation for an eventual mission to Mars and perhaps someday to many worlds beyond".

"Forty-five years ago today, NASA's final Apollo mission landed on the surface of the moon".

"You are ensuring Mr. President, that America will lead in space in the future and for generations to come", he added.

In September, Trump nominated Representative Jim Bridenstine, a Republican from Oklahoma, to be the next NASA administrator.

Pence, during the first meeting of the National Space Council in October, said the Trump administration "will return American astronauts to the moon, not only to leave behind footprints and flags, but to build the foundation we need to send Americans to Mars and beyond". He noted that there are "a lot of people that want to help [NASA]" reach those goals, including worldwide space partners and commercial space partners in the U.S.

The PlayStation VR Gran Turismo Sport Bundle deal is $199.99 and the PlayStation VR Skyrim bundle sells for $349. The PlayStation Experience 2017 is in full swing this weekend, and the PS4 news is flying out the doors.

Nasa said in a statement that the new policy would scrap its mission to send humans to an asteroid.

Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, who heads the newly revitalized National Space Council, have previously vowed to explore the Moon again, but offered few details.

No human has been on the Moon since Apollo 17 in December 1972.

"The US commercial space industry has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in private capital to develop innovative capabilities for lunar transport, operations and resource utilization", said Eric Stallmer, the group's president.

LaVar: Sons LiAngelo, LaMelo sign with agent
The back-and-forth continued, and Trump eventually tweeted that he "should have left them in jail", referring to the players. However, the elder Ball told ESPN that won't be the case.
