Nearly every major cryptocurrency not named bitcoin is falling

Bitcoins stolen after cryptocurrency site NiceHash hacked

The dollar was slightly higher on Thursday afternoon, mostly unchanged against the euro but gaining 0.20 percent against the yen to trade at 112.51. It is now showing a price closer to $16,000.

Still, that's not to say the market wasn't up on the day.

That places the value of the entire crytocurrency market at more than $400 billion, according to Coinmarketcap.com. The digital currency was trading at $14,382.33 as of 1:52 p.m. HK/SIN, as reported by Coinbase.

Goldstone Followed Up On Trump Tower Meet With Trump Aide, His Client
The Trump Tower meeting is also being investigated by Justice Department special counsel Robert Mueller. Eric Swalwell , D-Calif., told CNN Wednesday night .

Think Markets analyst Naeem Aslam on the other hand believed that such a bust was not in the offing any time soon and suggested that Bitcoin might even rise as high as $25,000 in early 2018 as major markets start trading futures of the asset. At the start of the year, one bitcoin was worth less than $1,000.

Cboe Global Markets Inc. has said it will start trading bitcoin futures on December 10, while CME Group Inc.'s contracts are set to debut on December 18.

The new high Wednesday morning is ahead of the launch of new bitcoin futures contracts by two major USA exchanges. The association's members expressed concern that they could be on the hook for large sums of money if extreme volatility in bitcoin resulted in big losses for some customers. Bitcoin prices were $960 at the start of the year.

Steph Curry to undergo MRI on right ankle
This season Curry has already missed two games thanks to a right thigh contusion and a bruised right hand. He landed awkwardly on his right ankle and was taken to the locker room shortly thereafter.

The swings in price occurred just as the trading community prepares for bitcoin to start trading on two established US exchanges. Crypto exchange Coinbase showed a $3,000 per coin jump on Thursday before the site went down amid "record high traffic". Bitcoins are created through a complex computer process known as mining and then monitored by a network of computers across the world. Such currencies are not tied to a bank or government and allow users to spend money anonymously.

A debate is raging on the merits of such currencies. Others say they can be helpful methods of payment, such as in crisis situations where national currencies have collapsed.

And then there are concerns about security. That prevents cheaters from spending the same digital coin twice. Laws were enacted to regulate bitcoin and other virtual currencies following that incident. A bitcoin "exchange" in Japan called Mt. Gox shut down in February 2014, saying it had lost about 850,000 bitcoins, possibly to hackers.
