Malta announces 10 arrests in journalist's murder

Eight arrested over high-profile journalist murder in Malta

Caruana Galizia, 53, was killed on October 16 after a bomb exploded in her auto as she drove away from her home in Mosta, a small town outside the capital, Valletta.

Malta has a population of 400,000 and is the European Union's smallest state.

Two more people have been arrested since Prime Minister Joseph Muscat's press conference this morning.

The arrests came seven weeks to the day after the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

Houthi rebels 'in control' of Yemen capital, Saleh forces say claims false
Saleh's supporters managed on Saturday to seize control of several embassies and government buildings from the Houthis. Unverified footage circulated by Yemeni social media users on Monday appeared to a show corpse resembling Saleh.

"Through her blog, 'Running Commentary, ' she made a name for herself exposing corruption in a nation famous for it - and collecting enemies along the way". Caruana Galizia made plain she didn't trust the island's police or judiciary to adequately investigate numerous wrongdoings she alleged.

Her criticism was also levelled at Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and his aides, who she accused of being linked to offshore companies and payments from the government of Azerbaijan.

"Declining to give details on the arrests, Muscat cited concerns any information could compromise prospects to successfully prosecute the case". Farrugia said he wouldn't disclose anything because "I have been already threatened by legal action by the Caruana Galizia family".

The Mediterranean country observed a national day of mourning in her honor and has offered a 1-million-euro (1.19 million USA dollar) reward for information about her murder.

Missing Florida teen found with soccer coach in Syracuse
They were also spotted early Sunday evening at a pawn shop in Fayetteville, Hunter said. The incident began Sunday when Frisina's parents reported her missing.

"It is of little comfort for the Prime Minister of this country to say that he will "not rest" until the perpetrators are found, when he heads a government that encouraged that same impunity", Matthew Caruana Galizia wrote in mid-October.

The family has lamented in the past of being kept in dark by the police as to the progress of the investigation.

Police have 48 hours to questions those arrested.

Asked whether he believes the arrested carried out the attack and whether their arrests could lead to the identification of a mastermind, Muscat refused to elaborate, only insisting that he has "a clear idea" of what their involvement was and that the government is committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
