Ivanka Trump lobbies for women at entrepreneurship summit in India

Twitterati rises at 3 am for Ivanka Trump

Ivanka Trump arrived in Hyderabad, India, on Tuesday for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit, a three-day gathering sponsored by the State Department. "All of you are helping India's middle-class reach its goal of almost 500 million people by 2030", Ivanka said.

The inaguration of the entrepreneurship summit will see Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Ivanka addressing the grand event.

The annual entrepreneurship conference will focus on the theme this year of "Women first, prosperity for all", and involves networking, mentoring and workshops.

To make things more manageable for the public, the Hyderabad police has issued a traffic advisory, that states the traffic will be diverted from 5pm to 11pm timings so that there is no difficulty for the public and the delegates to reach the venue. The US President's daughter lauded Modi for his belief that the progress of humanity was incomplete without the empowerment of women.

Despite the soaring rate of female entrepreneurs, women still faced steep obstacles in starting, owning, and growing their businesses, she said. "We must ensure women entrepreneurs have access to capital, access to networks and mentors", Ivanka said to loud cheers from a packed audience in a heavily-guarded conference centre.

She opened her speech by stressing how across the world entrepreneurs were "revolutionising our economies, and improving our societies". "Now, your tech centers may even outshine your world famous Biryani", she said, and recalled that Microsoft's Satya Nadella went to school here in Hyderabad.

"The people of India have lifted more than 130 million citizens out of poverty".
