Community Thanksgiving dinner celebrates 35 years

Holy Trinity Church In Hartford Offers A Thanksgiving Meal For Everyone

Over 700 volunteers worked very hard on Thanksgiving morning by putting together individual meals via assembly lines and passing them off to volunteer drivers who delivered them.

This year the Renoja family paid it forward and helped volunteered.

"It's one of my favorite things to do each and every year", said Eckert.

He's been volunteering for the dinner for 10 years.

The afternoon kicked off with the singing of the National Anthem and prayer, followed by thanks to those serving in the military and first responders who make it possible to have a peaceful Thanksgiving Dinner.

"I enjoy doing this, serving, the body's getting old, "but that's not stopping you right" well it's slowing me down", Mr. John said.

NBC5 Forecast: A mild Thanksgiving Day ahead
Happy Thanksgiving! We'll see lots of sunshine today across not only western Mass but throughout much of the northeast today . It will be a cold start for Black Friday too, with temperatures in the mid 30s at sunrise for the Baton Rouge metro area.

"We are delivering meals provided by Marvin United Methodist Church of Martinez to some people that maybe didn't have a Thanksgiving meal or don't have any family to prepare one for them that may be elderly folks or people in need", Wheatley said.

At the church, volunteers celebrated the successful meal preparation with a toast with sparkling grape juice. "It's good to come back to see family and friends at Saxe Gotha and also to get to help out during the holidays".

The center has provided more than 2.3 million meals since opening February 1, 1984, Smith said.

Each year, Clinton oversees the youth volunteers in clearing and re-setting tables during the meal. That total included 1,775 dinners that volunteers delivered to homes across Topeka and 775 that were served in the cozy confines of the Kansas Expocentre's Agriculture Hall, S.W. 17th and Tyler.

The church has hosted the meal for 15 years, with hundreds walking away stuffed each year. "It's a blessing for us and it's a blessing for the people who live around here".

"It makes me happy".

Bringing together members from all parts of the community.

She said the organization hopes to partner with the Orwell American Legion Post next year.

"I felt like it's something I could give back other than food, because we have so much", Quinones said. "People step up and donate their time and their money", said Reitzel, a member of the church committee overseeing the event.

"I wanted to keep busy during the holiday so I thought this was the best way to do it", she said and added that her husband served 40 years in the military.

Trump all but endorses Roy Moore
That's some law-and-order guy all right. "I can tell you one thing for sure, we don't need a liberal person in there", Trump said. An appearance by the president did not work out too well for his original Alabama Senate candidate, Luther Strange.
