Ezekiel Elliott drops his appeal, will serve full 6-game suspension

Ezekiel Elliott withdraws appeal

Elliott sat out his first of six games this past Sunday against the Falcons after the Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals denied his request for an emergency injunction at a hearing Thursday in NY.

It appears the drama between Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott and the National Football League has finally come to an end.

The union (NFLPA) had previously asked the court to block the start of the suspension until it considers its request to overturn a lower-court ruling on the grounds that Elliott's career will be irreparably harmed if his suspension begins now.

To make sure the final two games of the season matter, the coaches have to find a way to better adjust to life without Elliott.

Either way, the PowerPass program is now suspended and there's no word whether or not the program will be reinstated. We feel this is the right thing to do for now to ensure we are able to provide our guests an exceptional service.

Elliott's agent and lawyer said in the statement Wednesday that the decision comes from a "practical assessment of the legal landscape" and Elliott's desire for closures in this matter.

The decision means Elliott will serve out the remaining five games of his six-game suspension.

Instead of hoping against hope that he could win his Dec. 1 hearing for a preliminary injunction and see him return before they play Dec. 10 against the New York Giants, the Cowboys know the next time they will see him at The Star will be Dec. 18 and the next time he can be on the field will be Dec. 24.

Elliott also maintains he is innocent.

Elliott is expected to release his own statement in the coming weeks.

Prosecutors in Columbus, Ohio, decided not to pursue the case in the city where Elliott starred for Ohio State, citing conflicting evidence. His lawyers and the NFL Players Association said the arbitration process lacked, "fundamental fairness", with Harold Henderson serving as the NFL's hand-picked arbitrator as well as the league's lead investigator, Kia Roberts, not being involved in the meeting with commissioner Roger Goodell that led to the discipline. 'I'm a white girl.

Elliott, playing in his second season, has rushed for 783 yards and seven touchdowns on 191 carries. While catching the Eagles in the NFC East is virtually impossible, they're still fighting for a playoff spot we are quickly entering the month of December, so it goes without saying that losing probably your best skill position player at this time of the year is somewhat of a backbreaker.
