Target Refuses To Pull Fidget Spinners With High Lead Levels

Consumer group, PIRG Education Fund, says they found lead in some of the spinners sold at Target, and according to them, Target hasn't addressed it.

The two products are the "Fidget Wild Premium Spinner Brass" and the "Fidget Wild Premium Spinner Metal", which tested for 33,000 parts per million (ppm) and 1,300 ppm of lead, respectively.

USPIRG said it wasn't aware of any reported cases of lead poisoning that can definitively be traced to fidget spinners, but the Centers for Disease Control says there's no such thing as a safe level of lead.

"The two fidget spinners cited in their letter are clearly marked on the package as 'appropriate for customers ages 14 and older, ' and are not marketed to children", Target spokesman Lee Henderson told CBS News.

Haven't upgraded to iOS 11? You're not alone
Days after the final version of the iOS 11 .1 was released , Apple has finally rolled out the iOS 11 .2 public beta 2. The new update also fixed an issue where "Hey Siri" - which alerts Apple's voice assistant - stopped working.

Lab results showed two fidget spinners contained extremely high levels of lead, well over the federal legal limit of 100 parts per million (ppm) for lead in children's products.

MASSPIRG, a consumer advocacy group, alerted Target and Bulls i Toy, the distributor.

"Even small amounts of lead in toys can be ingested when transferred from fingers to mouth or from fingers to food", said national lead expert Helen Binns, MD, pediatrician at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and Professor of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

PIRG disputed the designation and claimed its representatives found the toxic fidget spinners in toy aisles at Target stores. The CPSC, Target and Bulls i Toy need to acknowledge the obvious - that all fidget spinners are toys.

Thousands of North West workers set for living wage pay rise
Sadiq Khan added: "Paying the London Living Wage is not only the action of a responsible organisation, but a successful one too. However, Lidl has not formally accredited with the Living Wage Foundation, which would commit the firm to pay rises every year.

Saying fidget spinners aren't toys defies common sense, as millions of parents whose kids play with spinners can tell you. On Target's website, the "Fidget Wild Premium Spinner Bass" is recommended for ages 14 and over, as well as, 6 and over. CPSC stands for the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Exposure to high levels of lead can cause developmental problems in children, organ damage and other long-term health issues.

Target has failed to comment about why they would sell a product that could be unsafe for children or adults.
