Syria to join Paris climate pact, leaving U.S. only nation left out

Flooding hits the Western side of Hong Kong close to the Central district after a torrential downpour 24 June 2005

President Donald Trump, who has expressed doubts that man-made greenhouse gas emissions are the prime cause of global warming, announced in June that he meant to pull out and instead promote United States coal and oil industries. But, good job, tweeted our government through its "Minister C. McKenna @ec_minister" Twitter site, declaring: "Canada Salutes Nicaragua and Syria for joining on to the Paris Agreement!Global#ClimateAction.#COP23", illustrated by the flags of both countries.

Meanwhile, AFP reported that United Nations spokesman Nick Nuttall confirmed Syria's signing and clarified that Syria is required to submit ratification documents at the United Nations headquarters based in NY.

The U.S. was instrumental in the accord to limit emissions of carbon dioxide and combat man-made climate change when it was formed in 2015, though President Trump announced earlier this year that he was backing out to put "America first".

President Trump announced in June he would be withdrawing from the Paris climate change agreement, calling it "unfair".

The news about Syria came during the second day of the United Nations' Climate Change Conference in Bonn, Germany.

On Oct. 23, Nicaragua announced it would join the Paris accord, despite its previous reservations. Some 25,000 scientists, envoys, lobbyists and environmental activists have descended on the city for two weeks to figure out how to turn the goals of the Paris accord into reality.

Thousands of North West workers set for living wage pay rise
Sadiq Khan added: "Paying the London Living Wage is not only the action of a responsible organisation, but a successful one too. However, Lidl has not formally accredited with the Living Wage Foundation, which would commit the firm to pay rises every year.

The Trump administration will not be able to formally extricate the USA from the climate agreement until 2020. "While the White House declares war on climate science and retreats from the Paris Agreement, California is doing the opposite and taking action", said California Gov. Edmund G. Brown, Jr., who will be going to the meeting. The other big feature on McKenna's personal Twitter account is never-ending happy stories about renewable energy and government programs to address climate change, so much so that you would never know the government she represents claims the world faces an imminent, existential threat from global warming in which hundreds of millions of people will soon die.

The WMO also said 2017 will be the hottest non-El Niño year ever recorded.
