Kim Wall: Peter Madsen Admits Dismembering Journalist But Denies Murder

TT News Agency Reuters Journalist Kim Wall's dismembered body was found in August

A DANISH inventor admitted to dismembering a Swedish journalist, whose body parts were found at sea after she went missing August 10 - but he denied killing her.

He previously claimed she had an accident but now says she died from carbon monoxide poisoning suffered inside Madsen's submarine while he was out of harm's way on the vessel's deck.

The police said in a statement Madsen had told them in an October 14 interrogation that Wall, 30, had died from carbon monoxide poisoning inside the submarine, while he was on the deck of the vessel.

The Swedish writer's head and legs were found in plastic bags on 6 October and a saw was sent for testing after it was recovered - also from Koge Bay - a few days later. A post-mortem examination revealed knife wounds to her genitals and ribcage, which were believed to have been caused "around or shortly after her death".

Peter Madsen is charged with murdering Kim Wall in his home-made submarine in August.

In the USA , there have not been as many iPhone 8 buyers as the majority of Apple fans were supposedly waiting for the iPhone X . However, Canalys warned that "despite launching three new devices this year, Apple's success in China could be short-lived".

Madsen denies the murder and sexual assault charges.

Madsen has denied any sexual relations with Wall, and insisted the hard drive did not belong to him.

Wall, who had written for the Guardian and the New York Times, was reported missing by her boyfriend in the early hours of 11 August when she failed to return from her interview. Police said there was no fracture to her skull.

Prosecutor Jakob Buch-Jepsen told a court custody hearing that a hard disk found in Madsen's workshop contained fetish films in which real women were tortured, decapitated and burned.

A report from the Reuters news agency of the earlier court hearing said that Madsen gave a vivid account of his story, saying: "I lose my foothold and the hatch shuts".

Nobody expected it to be this close, but Winx has completed her Ladbrokes Cox Plate three-peat on October 28. Winx now moves level with Kingston Town for three Cox Plate titles to her name.

"This explanation (by Madsen) naturally will lead police into gathering additional statements from the coroner and the armed forces' submarine experts", Copenhagen police investigator Jens Moller Jensen said, according to a translation by the Associated Press.

Police said divers were still searching for Wall's arms, and both her and Madsen's cell phones.

At the time of her disappearance, she was believed to be working on a feature story about Madsen, an eccentric, well-known figure in Denmark. He generated attention in 2008 with the launch of Nautilus, which was billed as the world's largest privately built submarine.

Madsen has voluntarily accepted the prosecutor's request to extend his custody until November 15, his lawyer said earlier on Monday, meaning he will not appear in court on Tuesday as initially planned.

Madsen has pleaded not guilty.
