Canalys: Smartphone Shipments Decline in China, Huawei Remains the Top Smartphone Manufacturer

Will Apple be a $1 trillion company this year?

However, according to the firm, smartphone shipments declined in China this quarter by 5% to 119 million units.

In the USA, there have not been as many iPhone 8 buyers as the majority of Apple fans were supposedly waiting for the iPhone X. However, in China, it is a different story.

Huawei, Oppo and Vivo took 19%, 18% and 17% market share respectively.

76ers guard Markelle Fultz out indefinitely
Fultz never looked right to begin the season and it's not a surprise to see Philly take a cautious route with the No. 1 pick. The Sixers' rookie will be reevaluated in three weeks, but it's another tough blow to the start of a promising career.

The tech giant's iPhone sales in China for the third quarter hit 11 million units, up from 8 million units sold during the third quarter of 2016, according to researcher Canalys.

According to UK-based research and analysis firm Canalys, the "Middle Kingdom" was responsible for 119 million unit shipments during Q3 2017, a 5 percent lower score than the year before, but still nearly three times as much as India's latest quarterly tally. The hike in September iPhone shipments in China ended a six quarter downtrend for the handset in the market.

The tech world is eagerly waiting for the iPhone X launch on November 3 - and that outsized focus has seemingly turned Apple's other fall 2017 release, the iPhone 8, into the ugly little sibling in the smartphone ecosystem. However, Canalys warned that "despite launching three new devices this year, Apple's success in China could be short-lived". He predicted that it is unlikely for Apple to sustain this growth in Q4 2017. "Price cuts on earlier models following the release of the iPhone 8 have also helped". "While the iPhone X launches this week, its pricing structure and supply are inhibiting". He added that the iPhone X would enjoy a healthy grey market status, but Apple's popularity is unlikely to be helped by it in the short term.

India clinch ODI series against Kiwis
New Zealand were 63 for two chasing 270 in the 15th over - but 16 runs, eight wickets and 51 balls later, the match was complete. Last year's decider, played exactly a year before this encounter, will either galvanise or haunt the incumbent Black Caps.

Apple's AAPL executive team has continued to say that China is critical to the company's future.

While Apple's growth was impressive, most competing brands also saw significant growth, leaving Apple in fifth place behind Huawei, Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi.
