China's official Xinhua News Agency said earlier that its seismic service detected a magnitude 3.4 quake in North Korea and saw the likely cause as an explosion.

Two South Korean officials at the Korea Meteorological Administration told CNN that their analysis so far suggests Saturday's seismic activity around the nuclear site was not caused by an explosion or a collapse of the site.

North Korea's foreign minister warned Saturday that a strike against the USA mainland is "inevitable" because President Donald Trump mocked leader Kim Jong Un with the belittling nickname "Little Rocket Man".

A magnitude 3.5 natural disaster struck at 4:29 a.m. ET Saturday a little more than 13 miles east-northeast of Sungjibaegam, North Korea, the US Geological Survey said.

"The USGS said that their seismologists confirmed it happened at a depth of 5KM and said, We can not conclusively confirm at this time the nature [natural or human made] of the event".

Monitoring groups estimate that the nuclear test conducted in North Korea earlier this month had a yield of 250 kilotons, which is 16 times the size of the United States bomb that destroyed Hiroshima in 1945.

"This mission is a demonstration of United States resolve and a clear message that the President has many military options to defeat any threat", said Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White, calling North Korea's weapons program "a grave threat". He used his oft-repeated moniker for Kim Jong Un, saying "Rocket Man is on a suicide mission for himself and for his regime".

"This is the farthest north of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) any USA fighter or bomber aircraft have flown off North Korea's coast in the 21st century", White said.

'Kim Jong Un of North Korea, who is obviously a madman who doesn't mind starving or killing his people, will be tested like never before!' the president tweeted.

All of North Korea's six nuclear tests registered as earthquakes of magnitude 4.3 or above. "S. dotard with fire".

"Trump, the president of so-called "power, ' is mad enough to wag his tongue without any consideration that he would 'totally destroy" a sovereign state". We are inviting all interested countries to pool efforts and to do their best to reach our common goal as soon as possibl,"Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said".

Ri echoed Trump's words Saturday, saying it is the USA president who "is on a suicide mission".

And it's possible that North Korea is able to undermine them.

China is imposing new limits on trade with North Korea after the isolated country's latest nuclear test. It would ban exports of liquefied natural gas to the North immediately as well.

Just heard Foreign Minister of North Korea speak at U.N. If he echoes thoughts of Little Rocket Man, they won't be around much longer! The data comes after the United Nations Security Council unanimously voted on August 6 to impose a ban on exports of coal, iron, iron ore, lead, lead ore and seafood as punishment for intercontinental ballistic missile tests in July.
