Aaron Hernandez had 'severe' CTE, lawyer says

Aaron Hernandez listens in April as Judge Jeffrey Locke addresses the jury’s question during his double murder trial at Suffolk Superior Court in Boston

Boston University, which has one of the most comprehensive research labs for the brain disease, released a statement saying that Hernandez had stage 3 CTE, which runs on a scale from one to four.

Hernandez infamously killed himself in his prison cell on April 19 - after he was found not guilty in a double homicide.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Hernandez's young daughter, according to TMZ Sports. Baez said the CTE was at Stage 3, with Stage 4 being the highest.

Nigeria Signs Anti Nuclear Weapons Treaty At UNGA
The decades-old NPT seeks to prevent the spread of atomic weapons but also puts the onus on nuclear states to reduce their stockpiles.

A lawyer for Hernandez, Jose Baez, in announcing the result at a news conference Thursday, said researchers determined it was "the most severe case they had ever seen in someone of Aaron's age", which was 27.

The lawsuit is separate from a $1 billion settlement in which the league agreed to pay families of players who suffered brain damage because of repeated head trauma while playing football. Behavioral symptoms of people found to have CTE have included depression, emotional instability, anger and violence, and memory loss. His death came just hours before the Patriots visited the White House to celebrate their latest Super Bowl victory.

Unfortunately for athletes, CTE can only be diagnosed in an autopsy and there are no known cures as of right now.

BU later confirmed the findings for Eyewitness News, saying Hernandez also had early brain atrophy.

We are grateful to the family of Aaron Hernandez for donating his brain to the VA-BU-CLF brain bank, located at the Jamaica Plain campus of the VA Boston Healthcare System.

But the Patriots released him in 2013, shortly after he was arrested in the killing of Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancée.

'At long last, Mr. President, here is your Emmy!'
Expressing gratitude to the LGBTQIA community, she said: "I see each and every one of you. Alec Baldwin is once again an Emmy victor - and he has President Donald Trump to thank.

Hernandez is one of the youngest former National Football League players to have been found to have CTE - a degenerative brain disease that can only be diagnosed after a person's death. That conviction was washed away after Hernandez's death under an old Bay State law that declares convicts innocent if they die before they have a chance to appeal.
