UEFA Opens PSG Financial Fair Play Investigation After Transfer Activity

Kylian Mbappe is one of the players signed by Paris Saint Germain in the summer window

LaLiga president Javier Tebas said: "The funding of PSG and Manchester City, thanks to state aid, distorts European competitions and creates an inflationary spiral that irreparably damages the football industry". We can't accept this'.

Several Spanish clubs, including Real and Barca, were punished previous year for breaching rules on state aid but Tebas dismissed any comparison between those cases and the FFP breaches he was accusing City and PSG of.

Speaking at the Soccerex conference in Manchester, Tebas said PSG were "laughing at the system" and that Neymar had "peed from the diving board" into the swimming pool - the latter aquatic facility representing Spanish football in an unusually coarse metaphor. "These past few years Manchester City have paid out almost £1bn on players, PSG £950m".

European football governing body UEFA is investigating if Neymar's new team PSG have broken Financial Fair Play rules.

Tropical Storm Jose forms to the east of Irma
The hurricane center said Tuesday Jose had 40 miles per hour winds, and was moving west-northwest at 13 miles per hour . Tuesday, Jose was a minimal tropical storm, with maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour with higher gusts.

The La Liga president says Manchester City's solicitors have been in touch with the league following his complaint to UEFA, as the argument threatens to turn into a legal battle.

However, UEFA subsequently moved to clarify that City were not under investigation and called any reports stating otherwise "unsubstantiated".

City, who spent more than £200m in the summer transfer window, offered Arsenal £55m up front for the Chile forward on Thursday but a deal failed to materialise.

Tebas added: "This is when the football clubs have competitive advantage not coming from the club itself, PSG and Manchester City and in the past Chelsea".

Kenya's Supreme Court Overturns Election Result
In a historic ruling on Friday, for the first time on the continent a court ruled against the electoral victory of an incumbent. Wafula Chebukati , Chairman of the electoral commission, said this in a statement issued on Monday.

PSG chief Al-Khelaifi: Those "thinking about FFP I tell them ... go have a coffee and don't worry about us, we are in good hands".

After initially claiming the clubs were "irreparably harming football", Tebas has once again launched a scathing attack, this time using a rather freakish analogy. They are not financial doping. We carried out this study of the accounts - income streams, sponsorship et cetera. "If this player (Neymar) had gone to Manchester United maybe I would not have gone to the courts because this is not financial doping and maybe they have the money to buy this player".

"They [Uefa] have not said they will never have one", he said. "This is not football's market price, It's gas market price".

Despite Tebas' request for City to also be investigated, Uefa confirmed on Tuesday that there is now no open investigation into the club's adherence to FFP.
