PGA TOUR: Johnson back on top

A bunker on the 18th- it was that sort of day for Danny Lee in the opening round of The Northern Trust the first

British Open champion Jordan Spieth turned up the heat on the back nine again on Saturday to seize a three-stroke lead over world number one Dustin Johnson at the Northern Trust.

Down to his last shot, Johnson watched his 18-foot par putt stay on the high side of the hole and thought it surely would miss.

Park birdied the final hole for a 7-under 64 and a two-stroke victory over fellow South Korean player Mirim Lee. He drilled the short putt for the birdie.

Dustin Johnson is confident of further success in the FedExCup play-offs after claiming a return to the winner's circle at The Northern Trust. "It's just a matter of trying to go out there and put the best possible rounds together and see where that leaves me".

Returning to the 18th hole in a playoff, Johnson took on the lake with a 341-yard tee shot that left him a lob wedge to 4 feet. A peculiarity that was on parade at Glen Oaks.

Trump pardons former sheriff for disobeying judge's order
Arpaio was an early supporter of Trump during his presidential campaign, but he himself lost reelection as sheriff last November. One former Obama administration official even referred to Trump with a Spanish curse word, which typically means "dumbass".

Spieth's approach shot couldn't stay on the green.

Defending FedExCup champion Rory McIlroy battled his way to a T34 finish, some 15 shots outside the playoff between Johnson and Spieth.

Matsuyama, who sits atop the FedEx standings 198 points ahead of Spieth, left the course without speaking to reporters. Conversely, he also had a handful of chances to close the door on DJ, and his inability to do so gave Johnson the platform to stage the comeback.

"I really like playing in Canada, so just enjoy everything", Chun said. But I was able to turn it around.

Prior to the Masters, Johnson won the Dell Technologies Match Play, the Genesis Open at Riviera Country Club and the WGC Mexico Championship.

In Gee Chun took the lead Friday in the Canadian Pacific Women's Open, and Canadian star Brooke Henderson did just enough to stick around for the weekend at Ottawa Hunt. The 27-year-old was tied for 23rd, six strokes behind the leaders, entering the final round before her WD. "I was surprised how many people came out here". A theoretical victory would make the two-time major victor the oldest champ in European Tour history.

Meanwhile, Queenslander Day bagged his fourth top-10 finish of 2017.

After winning the PGA Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina, Justin Thomas seemed to have locked up the PGA Tour Player of the Year award, and officially gotten out from underneath Spieth's shadow.

Seventy players made the cut at 2-over par. Mitchell walked off with a five, believing he had missed his goal by two shots.

The American began the day in a four-way tie for the lead and recovered from a bogey on the first with his fifth birdie of the day on the 10th.
