South Korea, China urge Trump to solve Korean issue diplomatically

North Korea says leader Kim Jong Un was briefed on his military's plans to launch missiles in waters near Guam days after the Korean People's Army announced its preparing to create "enveloping fire" near the US military hub in the Pacific.

"President Trump reaffirmed that the United States stands ready to defend and respond to any threat or actions taken by North Korea against the United States or its allies, South Korea and Japan", a White House statement said early Tuesday.

Kim Jong-un, earlier this week, made a decision to put the missile attack plans on hold "in order to defuse the tensions" with the USA, adding he wanted to watch how the United States behaves a little more before launching the offensive. He said the alternative would have been both "catastrophic and unacceptable".

In his first public appearance in about two weeks, Kim on Monday inspected the command of the North's army, examining the plan to fire four missiles aimed at landing near Guam, the official KCNA news agency reported. He said he would watch the "foolish and stupid conduct of the Yankees".

However, White House chief strategist Steve Bannon said there was "no military solution" to North Korea's nuclear threats because of Pyongyang's massed artillery targeting the South Korean capital.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson echoed that sentiment on Tuesday, telling reporters in Washington that "we continue to be interested in trying to find a way to get to dialogue, but that's up to [North Korean leader Kim Jong-un]".

Oil rises on hefty drawdown at USA crude hub
The price for Brent , the global benchmark for the price of oil, is down about 4.5 percent from where it started August. Data released Wednesday showing that US crude output to 9.502 million barrels a day last week weighed on the market.

In response, North Korea announced its plan to fire missiles at Guam, which it said would "send a serious warning signal to the USA". Imagine the two of them, both of them narcissists by temperament.

Perry is one of the only Americans North Korea has ever invited to meet with its highest military leaders.

The exercises have taken on greater significance this year due to the rise in tensions around North Korea's rapid progress in developing nuclear weapons and missiles capable of reaching the US mainland.

In February 2016, when North Korea declared its plans to launch a ballistic missile that it claimed to be a satellite, the Japanese government adopted the same measures and since then remained on high alert.

"The ultimate goal, of course, must be regime change, and we may hope that North Korea's sponsors in China also recognize that necessity", he said.

"I can confidently say there will not be a war again on the Korean Peninsula".

North Korea regards the United States exercises as preparations for invasion.

North Korea tested a missile that has the capability of reaching the West Coast in late July.

The resolution imposes the toughest sanctions yet on North Korea including banning all exports of coal, iron, lead, and fish and seafood products valued at $1 billion - about a third of the country's total exports.

Moon said his South Korean government "will put everything on the line to prevent another war in the Korean Peninsula".

North Korea and the US have been trading threats and displaying shows of strength for weeks.
