Roy Moore, Luther Strange Head for Runoff in Alabama Senate Race

UNITED STATES- AUGUST 4 GOP candidate for U.S. Senate Sen. Luther Strange R-Ala. left speaks with a supporter after the U.S. Senate candidate forum held by the Shelby County Republican Party in Pelham Ala. on Friday Aug. 4 2017. Sen. Strange is

He is famously referred to as the "Ten Commandments Judge". He says riding a horse to vote is a family tradition. The special general election for the Senate seat will be held December 12.

The latest poll shows odd 14 points behind challenger Roy Moore, the former Alabama supreme court chief justice, according to a Trafalgar Group survey.

Trump had recorded a robocall backing the temporary senator.

The two men also face Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala., on the ballot.

Voting is coming to a close in the Alabama Senate primary.

'I support President Trump's agenda of making America great again, ' Moore said announcing his entry into the Senate race in May.

Trump in a tweet wrote, "Congratulation to Roy Moore and Luther Strange for being the final two and heading into a September runoff in Alabama".

Merck chief Ken Frasier resigns from Trump council
Trump on Saturday initially denounced what he called "this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides". Schwarzman, the chief executive of Blackstone and one of the president's closest advisers in the business community.

In the rural community of Gallant in northeast Alabama, Jimmy Wright, 41, showed up early Tuesday to vote for Moore.

Moore, a favorite of religious conservative voters, has a colorful political history that has both fueled and complicated his rise.

Roy Moore's views are abhorrent, but as a state Supreme Court judge he has made clear he will not obey the U.S. Constitution.

Moore has a heavy following among the state's evangelical voters after stands for the Ten Commandments and against gay marriage. Elected chief justice again in 2012, he was suspended once more for refusing to enforce the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling on marriage equality. "Experts in Alabama calling it a 'conservaboooom!'" tweeted Rev. Cary Gordon after Moore's win and Sen.

"#ALSen", Moore, the former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice who lost his job past year fighting to preserve Alabama's natural marriage law after the U.S. Supreme Court imposed homosexual "marriage" on the nation, tweeted at 9:02 last night, with his victory assured.

Regardless of the merits of that statement, the fact that this serious, experienced, and well-spoken conservative finished a distant third in a bright red state should help answer the question constantly being posed by the media: do Trump voters still support the president? "He's doing a lot of things for the people of Alabama". I think I understand, for example, that the filibuster rule is a constitutional rule.

On the campaign trail, Moore is portraying himself as an anti-establishment figure who would be a reliable ally to the president.

Bitcoin Price Climbs above US$4000, Hits All-Time High
Bitcoin first hit the headlines back in 2013, after a price surge saw its value rise from $15 to more than $1,000 during the year. A bitcoin could be bought for around $570 just 12 months ago - reflecting a rise of around 645 percent to today's exchange rate.

Unusual had emphasized his Trump endorsement but had acknowledged all along that a runoff was likely because of the crowded GOP field.

Trump tweeted congratulations Wednesday to both Moore and odd "for being the final two".

Alabama's Senate GOP primary is set to test the current strength of a Trump endorsement.

Thus, running to represent Alabama's angst against Washington, as an advocate in a 100-person Senate rather than a chief executive, Mr. Moore was always a strong bet at least to make the primary runoff. Both are scheduled to participate in a U.S. Senate Special Election Republican Runoff Forum sponsored by The Alabama Policy Institute and Samford University on September 21 from 6-7:30 p.m.

Conservatives were gleeful that McConnell's chosen candidate was so easily defeated despite his funding advantage - a sign of Strange's electoral weakness in Alabama. "[Trump] loves the people of the state", unusual said.

Even before the initial vote Tuesday night, the group hinted at its line of attack on Moore.

He argued Moore's history of controversy would make it hard for him to attract support from conservative groups that might be tempted to spend money on the race.
