Hackers leak 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' season nine episodes

HBO offered to pay $250,000 to hackers who were threatening to leak episodes of its massively popular drama Game of Thrones

In a sternly worded statement, HBO claimed it is not in any communication with those who are believed to hack their system, thus disputing previous rumors suggesting the network was negotiating with hackers to resolve the leaks.

It's probable that the hackers will continue to leak content in an attempt to embarrass HBO further, but HBO is doing the right thing by not taking the bait. HBO recognized that "proprietary information" had been stolen, and added that it was investigating the case along with security experts and police. Transparency with our employees, partners and the creative talent that works with us has been our focus throughout this incident and will remain our focus as we move forward.

Hackers continue to pester HBO, but didn't release any material related to the network's hit show "Game of Thrones" in their latest leak.

Other series' affected in the leak included Insecure and Ballers.

In challenge to US, Iran adds funding to missile program
The additional U.S. sanctions put in place last month directly target the missile programme and the IRGC. Tensions between Tehran and Washington have grown since President Trump took office.

As time passes, more information becomes available regarding the extent of the hack, and what HBO is doing, or refuses to do, in its wake.

Despite the latest episode of Thrones leaking a few days earlier, the hack didn't affect ratings for the fantasy series.

Roughly a week ago, the networking giant HBO faced a massive problem when hackers leaked the latest episode of Game of Thrones.

"In a complicate (sic) operation, we successfully penetrated in to the HBO Internal Network, Emails, technical platforms, and database and got precious and confidential stuff that blaze your eyes", the hacker wrote on the site.

Experts say the cyber thieves could have even more sensitive data, including the personal info of employees and other unaired episodes, which they are still holding as leverage. Companies that pay hackers bitcoin ransoms usually don't reveal they were even hacked, as they fear an admission will make them a target for future attacks. The FBI is now investigating the leak, which is seven times the size of the Sony hack from 2014.

According to reports, a source close to the investigation stated that the email was a stall tactic, and that HBO didn't really plan on handing over $250,000.

The unidentified hackers have demanded their "six-month salary" in return for not releasing the bulk of the stolen data, claiming they collect up to $15m a year by holding organisations' data ransom.
