Jaitely visits family of slain RSS worker Rajesh, calls murder 'most brutal'

CPI (M) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan disagrees with Governor's tweet 'Summoning' Chief Minister

Members of Communist Party of India (Marxist) staged protest outside Raj Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday as Union minister Arun Jaitley arrived in Kerala to visit the house of slain RSS functionary Rajesh, reported ANI.

"Arun Jaitley who is here in the state, should spend time with the close relatives of the CPM members killed in attacks".

Jaitley said that even enemies won't inflict such brutality as those who are involved in the murder. "The workers of Kerala are not alone, the whole nation is with you", he told the grieving family, while blaming the Left-ruled state government of perpetrating violence in Kerala. Reportedly, Ramit's father Uthaman was hacked to death by alleged CPM workers in 2002. The state had been witnessing a cycle of violence involving BJP-RSS and CPM workers with the capital district rocked by incidents of attacks on houses of rival partymen in the past few days. "We need political will and determination by the state government to discipline its own cadre rather let them loose on the political opponents", he said.

Nagappan said, "Jaitley should not just restrict his visit to just the RSS worker's home".

Under pressure, Cheif Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had called for an all-party meeting last week. They can neither suppress the ideology nor scare away workers through such barbaric acts, " he added. Responding to questions on families of CPM victims seeking an audience with him, the minister said he was prepared to meet them since it was his "responsibility".

State BJP leaders, including president Kummanam Rajasekharan, accompanied the Union Finance minister.

"The Centre has been harbouring the dream of dismissing the state government citing law and order issues". The 31-year-old, who was found with 89 stab marks on his body, was an RSS worker since his boyhood.

Politics and violence bear an inextricable link in Kerala, particularly when it comes to the struggle being waged between the CPI (M) and the RSS and the BJP.

Eight suspects have been detained in the murder of the RSS worker and taken into custody in connection with the case.
